Music Together® Curriculum

Tenn Little Birds is proud to teach the Music Together® curriculum, which includes an award-winning mix of original songs and traditional tunes from a range of musical styles, including folk, blues, jazz, and world music. The music is pitched just right for children's voices, and the arrangements are fun, sophisticated, and loved by children---and grownups! The combination gives the children in our Nashville area a rich music experience, and makes this kids’ music enjoyable for adult listening, too!

The Music Together® songs are organized into nine collections of twenty-five songs, with three collections taught each year. Your family is welcome to join us at any time and continue for three years---and beyond. Many families cycle back and re-experience the collections as their children turn three or four. Because music-learning is cumulative, your children will experience developmental benefits that build over time. That’s why we encourage their participation in Music Together for as many years as possible from infancy through kindergarten.

  Family Class - Bells

In the upcoming Bells Collection, families will play with their voices by mimicking the sounds of instruments in the “French Folk Song,” and Spanish-speaking animals in “De Colores.” (Did you know that in Spanish, roosters say “Quiri-quiri quiri” to wake people up?) Making funny animal sounds, lip-burring, and other tonal play helps children explore their vocal register, discover their singing voices and distinguish them from their speaking voices. And since children learn from contrasts and by expressing music with their full bodies, you’ll be hopping lightly like birds and sliding smoothly like an iceskater. You’ll have so much fun you won’t even notice that you’re learning staccato and legato! In addition to your weekly classes, your tuition includes recordings and materials for you to use at home, including access to the songs through the Hello Everybody app. Join the Winter session and play, sing, laugh and learn with families in your community.

Babies Class - Bells with Parent Education Materials

The Babies Only class is designed for parents with infants 0 - 8 months. Babies class materials include the songbook, CD, and digital download of the current Music Together collection as well as a Family Guide booklet with educational information about how children develop musically and how you can support that development in your own baby.

Canta y Baila Conmigo® - El Cascabel

Canta y Baila Conmigo is a unique program with dual, complementary goals of music education and language immersion. Canta y Baila Conmigo creates a playful, interactive atmosphere where language learning is integrated naturally and organically in the musical experience. Whether you are a beginner or a native Spanish speaker,  we hope you use this program as a launching pad to your child's bilingual future.

Enjoy the variety of rhythmic and melodic forms presented in this collection. As you explore new musical forms and become familiar with different sounds you will be opening a window into other cultures.  We invite you to listen to your CD often and to use your songbook as a reference and inspiration to get the most out of your Canta y Baila Conmigo experience.

Rhythm Kids - Elephant Collection

Rhythm Kids classes for pre-K and early elementary students tap into how children this age are wired to learn, with music games, animal rhythm stories, and lots of stomping-flying-climbing fun. In each weekly class, your child will drum, sing, move, and play to rhythms inspired by musical traditions around the world, from West African Gahu, to Japanese Taiko, to Brazilian Samba, to name a few. As they learn to think and create like a musician, they’ll also gain valuable skills they’ll take to the elementary school classroom (and beyond!): confidence, focus, leadership, cognitive flexibility, and more. By the end of the semester, your child will be eager to show off what they’ve learned!
